The drinking water supply systems in the cities of Boukoumbé, Covè and Zagnanando were set up more than twenty years ago and have not been substantially extended or densified. The obsolescence of these technical installations and their limited capacity have created a significant need for drinking water in view of the strong demographic growth recorded in these cities. In order to overcome these difficulties, the Government has initiated a drinking water supply project in the towns of Boukoumbé, Covè and Zagnanando. The aim of the project is to: i) develop production and distribution capacities in urban and peri-urban areas; ii) provide access to drinking water for the entire rural and semi-urban population; and iii) modernize and develop the responsible use of hydrological and hydrogeological resources.
