Inaugurated on August 29, 2019, the Maria-Gléta thermal power plant is now ready after two years of work to integrate Benin’s energy supply, following a series of satisfactory tests. Financed by the national budget and other financial institutions such as WADB, EBID and IDB, the plant consists of 7 engines of 18.5 MW of unit power, a 161 KV evacuation station expandable to 400 MW, and an interconnection station to the Gas network. With its 127 megawatts, the plant already meets half of the energy needs of the Beninese population with positive spin-offs from its construction on the local community and social front.
