The aim of the Competitiveness of Agricultural Sectors and Export Diversification Project is to increase productivity and market access for certain agri-food value chains in Benin. The project has five components, the first two being strengthening the enabling environment and infrastructure for agri-food value chains and increasing the productivity, connectivity, added value and competitiveness of agri-food products, starting with pineapple and cashew nuts and continuing with the other priority value chains identified.
It will specifically aim to :
– Strengthen the capacity of public institutions to provide an enabling environment for improving competitiveness;
– Increase and promote the export of agri-food products, starting with pineapple and cashew nuts and continuing with other identified value chains;
– Increase agricultural productivity in the value chains targeted by the project (pineapple, cashew nuts and rice); and
– Promote investment throughout the targeted value chains to encourage the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices.
